A playwriting workshop by Alvaro Saar Rios

FEE: $20  (Registration must be prepaid in order to attend workshop)

Want to write a play but don't know where to start? This two hour workshop will help you brainstorm and write material to get you on your way to writing a play (or two). Although no writing experience is necessary, curiosity is required. 

All registered participants will also receive a copy of Alvaro Saar Rios' award winning play Luchadora!

MATERIALS NEEDED: Pencil/pen and notebook or just bring a laptop.

Words from Alvaro: "I have always felt that everyone(and I mean everyone) has at least one play inside them and it's just waiting to get out. This is my first attempt at something like this. If there is interest in this workshop, I plan to return to Houston to teach more in the future." 


Originally from Houston, Alvaro Saar Rios is a Resident Playwright at Chicago Dramatists. His plays have been performed in New York City, Hawaii, Milwaukee and all over Texas. He has created original works for various organizations including The Alley Theatre, Houston Grand Opera, HCC-Central, Honolulu Theatre for Youth, and the Zoological Society of Milwaukee. Mr. Rios holds an MFA in Writing for the Stage and Screen from Northwestern University. He is a co-founder of Nuestra Palabra and currently teaches playwriting at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
